The Women In Action Mental Health program was created based upon need and request by the Ophir School for support, as well as through the generous donations and support of this community. Since its inception in January 2007, the WIA Mental Health program has served roughly over 45 families and 75 kids in the Big Sky Community. Currently, the program is funding 8 hours per week, and from January 2009 to present, we have already served 40 families and 46 kids.
Thanks to resort tax funding, for over 2 years now, the need for the mental health program and its services has been validated by increasing requests. The program is rapidly growing, and those involved continue to be extremely grateful for the generosity that has been offered to this program and to this community, especially during these stressful and difficult economic times. Families are continually stating that if it weren’t for the program they would simply not have been able to receive needed support and services. People in this community are struggling financially for a variety of reasons that are consistent with the current economic climate, and they are, therefore, continually reiterating how grateful they are for the program.
The Mental Health Program is just one of the many programs offered by Women In Action. WIA raises funding from many sources other than the resort tax. Pictured here is the annual croquet fundraiser.
